WriteAtHome®courses are geared for students in fourth through twelfth grades and come in three lengths: 32-week annual courses, 16-week semester courses, and 8-week workshops. In addition, we now offer live, webinar-based, literature courses, high school history classes, and complete English Language Arts classes for fourth and fifth graders.

Our most popular option, annual courses ensure maximum instruction and writing development opportunities. Annual courses are comprehensive, including both creative and academic writing. Students will compose narrative, descriptive, expository and persuasive papers.

Semester courses are 16-weeks long and are offered in the fall and spring. Like the annual courses, semester courses cover a broad variety of writing forms. They are perfect for families with limited budgets or whose schedules allow for only half a year of writing.
Taking the A and B version of a course will provide your student with all the practice and instruction of the annual course.

These eight-week workshops focus on a single writing mode. These work well for students looking to hone their skills in a particular type of writing. Students may choose from creative writing, short story, essay writing, research paper, and much more.

Live and self-paced literature classes

Our annual literature courses include weekly lectures and discussions led by WriteAtHome creator Brian Wasko. Lit 1-4 courses focus on the great books of Western civilization. These four courses are offered in live and self-paced versions and are geared toward students in 8th-12th grades. High School World Lit focuses on non-Western and minority authors and is only offered as a live version. Middle School Lit is a genre-based class that is also only offered live.
Self-paced literature does not meet live. Students have access to recorded lectures from their courses.
Space is limited in live literature classes! Classes are on a first-come, first-served basis.

MIDDLE SCHOOL LITERATURE
CLASSICAL HIGH SCHOOL LITERATURE TRACK
CONVENTIONAL HIGH SCHOOL LITERATURE TRACK
Our annual English Language Arts classes will meet online once a week for an hour, and students will be given work to complete at home.
These classes will combine literature, writing, and grammar to provide a full English Language Arts experience for your students.

Our Classical History 1-4 classes pair with our Classical Lit 1-4 classes providing students with a great overview of literature and history from each era.
NEW for 2023-24, our Conventional History track pairs with our Conventional Literature track and provides a flow similar to what students would study in a typical high school. All classes meet live via Zoom and are recorded.
